  1. TO:  ODA 3211 Operations SGT - SSG Clark

    FROM: ODA 3211 Detachment Commander - 1LT Hodges.A

Task List For Week Of 18DEC21

    1. Get familiar with the Area of Operation by entering the training server and using the map to make hasty markings for a basic plan.

    2. Mark / Identify Insertion and Extraction locations and Ingress methods for each.

    3. Mark / Identify any mountain tops and questionable areas nearby.

    4. Mark / Identify maneuvering routes ODA should take to maintain concealment and to eliminate any chance of being discovered including checkpoints/waypoints.

    5. Meet with Weapons SGT to discuss the inventories ODA will need to complete this mission, and have them add that information as a reply to this forum post.

    6. Meet with the Medical SGT to discuss inventories and supplies the ODA will need to complete this mission, and have them add that information to the forum.

    7. Meet with the Communications SGT and make sure they understand the reference material for ODA radio SOP's

    8. Think of short yet practical training drills the ODA can perform throughout the week, to get prepared for the mission and schedule them.

If you have ANY questions or need ANY assistance of any kind, please reach out to either WO1 Bluefort or 1LT Hodges.A

  2. FTX Outline for ODA 3211 Week 18DEC21

Situation: This next phase of training will start to simulate situations we could encounter on deployment within the ALiVE system and the A-symmetric mission set.  The background situation for this phase is from the context that we have local authority to operate in the area, however we must have the consent of the local city/village leaders in order to work within their village.

The point will be made to the locals that working with us will make their lives easier.  We want to respect their authority, but we are going to enter and eliminate the threats no matter what.  The local population who is innocent, can do things the easy way or the hard way.  With that being said, while we have consent from the local leaders, we need to treat that consent with respect by treating everyone else with respect.

The Insurgents are well hidden within their own societies.  In order to locate them we need to start our own data base of all the civilians in the area, where they live, and who they support or not support.  The collection will begin in Phase 2.

Operational Objective: The current operation is to liberate the town of Charkia, Altis grid: 181,152 from any hostiles and neutralize any installations that might be hidden inside the town.  The schedule prediction for this operation is four weeks.  3 phases of recon followed by the 4th phase, direct action.

    Details For Phase 1

Phase 1 - will be conducted on Saturday 1800EST

    - in game time will be step off at sundown.

    - Mission Template: Mountain Reconnaissance

    - Method of Insertion is left to ODA discretion: For this template, we can drive recon vics such as razors, we can insert via heli and hike, or we can free fall and hike.

    - Perform Mountain Reconnaissance in a 1km radius outside the town of Charkia.

    - Primary Objective focus will be to locate and eliminate any insurgent camps hidden in the nearby mountains.  FYI they do this for scouting purposes as well as hiding their military presence.

    - Secondary Objective focus will be to assess the enemy threat level.  Do we need to send in a Ranger Battalion or can we handle this quietly ourselves?  Identify quality over-watch positions to observe the city from a distance as we may need to use these positions for future missions.  Identify if any, quality Maneuvering Routes into and out of the city incase we need to move people in and out under cover/concealment.  Locate and identify common areas for civilian accumulation, as well as suspicious areas to investigate.

    - RTB

What Needs To Be Confirmed Before Phase 2 Can Be Initiated?

    - Once it is determined that A) this village has suspicious activities, and requires further investigations and B) the enemy threat level appears to be small (i.e. tanks and BTR's are NOT patrolling in the open with fuckin company of men) then we can arrange humanitarian security missions to engage in conversations with elders that should reveal the locations of insurgents that are not otherwise known.

    - Potential template for Phase 2: Enter the city with a security force and meet with the village elders to establish relations.  Once a friendly relationship is started, we can use that to gain access to portions of the city that would otherwise be "off limits" or to be given the keys instead of having to break down the door so to speak.

    - Potential template for Phase 3: Perform undercover surveillance of the installations discovered through intel sources to verify the intel.

    - Potential template for phase 4: Once intel is verified, perform direct action.

  3. Training:  FTX 2 objectives both raids, 2nd obj had x2 unarmed combatants to apprehend and RTB

    Instructors: 1LT Hodges.A

Students: SSG Clark, SGT Chan, SGT. Rat, SGT Errbs, (additional attendees  2lt Wolf and SSG Dunkin)

    Assisting: CPT Parrish, MJR Chase

    Signed: 1LT Hodges.A

  4. NOTE: In relation to the tactical markings on the map, we have provided you with a finished version to act as a template for future screenshots.  In the future we expect the Operations SGT to generate the screenshots and mark them.

Use the mission outline presented to the Operations SGT at the start of each week (Monday) to complete the following tasks by Friday.

    Tasks:
    1
Task number 1 depends on the circumstance, for example, for training purposes, we have the ability to get into the server and scan the map for tactical information.  However there are times where our only source of information comes from previous intel, and therefore acquiring images from a "safe" perspective when there may not otherwise be one, would break the immersive principle.   Use your own discretion unless instructed otherwise.
    - Either in the editor, or training server, load the map we are currently working with and start to get a strategic idea for what is happening.

    - Make the following marking on the map:

    - Insertion: (HLZ, DZ, LZ, Dismount, so forth so on)
    - Insertion Ingress: From where to where
    - Mark necessary compounds, buildings, and AO's
    - Mark potential routes of maneuver
    - Have a minimum of a primary and secondary extraction
    - Ingress for extraction for an HLZ, exfil routes for ground vics
    - Consider the number of friendly personnel.  If using ground vehicles, it's suggested to leave room in the vics for unknown extra passengers should the circumstance arise.

    2
    - Generate a report of some kind, however you decide is the simplest way to pass along a document.  FYI Forum posts are the easiest.  Generate a series of Tasks for subordinates.
    - Weapons SGT duties: Once the first layer of tactical information is in a presentable format, meet with the Weapons SGTs and make sure they come up with a full list of inventory necessary to complete the mission.  They should add to the report, the following, but not limited to: How many mags per person?  What kind of ammo?  How many frags, flashbangs, smokes should be carried?  Do we need specialty items?  As Operations SGT, your instructions within your report should be clear enough that the Weapons SGT can easily read your instructions and complete their jobs.

Some jobs cannot be completed until in game, for example, the other duty a Weapons SGT has once in game, is to make sure any vehicles we use are stocked with whatever inventory we need.

Weapons SGT duties conclude by adding in the data to the report.

    - Communications SGT: Mostly in game duties except for referencing the documentation we have regarding radios, nets, channels, and frequencies.
    - When in game, it is the responsibility of the Communications SGT check all radios.  Make sure everyone has the proper radios and is on the right nets.  Once radio checks are done, report to the Operations SGT that it is so.

    - Medical SGT: Mostly in game with the exception of inventory.  The Medical SGT should understand the scope of the mission as presented to him in the report by the Operations SGT.  From that point the medic should generate a list of inventory items needed for the mission.

Medical SGT concludes their duties by adding their data to the report.

    3
    - Compile the information collected from the ODA and present to the assistant detachment commander and the detachment commander by Friday so leadership can sign off on the training/mission.  FYI easy way for everyone to make their additions to the report is to reply to the initial forum post.

    - Create a simple set of drills the ODA should work on in the training server throughout the week that will help with the training/mission and schedule meetup times for those events and post them in discord.  These types of trainings will most likely be ODA only, so only tag ODA in discord when making the post.

  5. On Saturday 11DEC21 ODA 3211 will conduct a FTX on training server on Altis.  PNF are allowed to participate, and will mostly likely be filling any holes, as well as protecting the ODA assault force from any quick response forces.

    Points of Focus:

    - Week long process getting all ODA roles hands on with setting up the training/mission

    - More practice with Air Assault.  Emphasis on quick transitions i.e. short time between infil and exfil.

    - CQC: Focus on using shoulder taps and the 3 main hand signals - flip/cover back to back, breach, bang.

    Mission Framework:

Two different OBJ's.  Each objective site has only a few target buildings (more exact numbers will follow including images taken from our surveillance missions)

    - LZ should be within 2 blocks of the target building to provide quick transition for assault forces to exit the bird and go straight into their stacks.
    - Target buildings are 2 story village homes and small single story/single room homes.  Only one of the target areas could present issues with tight spaces in the alley way
    - Each OBJ could have potentially more than one captured combatants that we need to return to base
    - Each OBJ, after threats have been neutralized, SSE should be conducted, seizing any intel, and demolishing anything we can't carry.  (Consider the surroundings when using demo charges.  If we don't want collateral damage, we need to be prepared to actually move the items we want to demolish to a safe nearby location so perform a safe controlled det.  Keep the time in mind in this case.
    - The goal is seamlessly complete OBJ 1 and OBJ 2 before RTB.
    - The amount of ammo used on this op should be small, unless we encounter a quick reaction force, we would need to be able to handle that for atleast a short amount of time before exfil.

    Additional Intel:
    - OBJ (1) - Oscar Kilo, grid: 0469-2135 (Map: Altis)
    - OBJ (2) - Zulu, grid: 0902-1204 (Map: Altis)
Intel images/footage posted in #screenshots on discord
    - x4 map photos fully marked, two for each objective
    - surveillance images over multiple days of OBJ (1) - Oscar Kilo
    - surveillance footage of OBJ (2) - Zulu

    Link to surveillance footage:

  6. ODA 3211 FTX                                                                                                                                                  Date: 4DEC21

    Training: Vehicle Interdiction

  7. A1-1 SITREP:

    • Date: Fri 26FEB21
    • Mission Availability: 10 out of 10 reported they will attend this Saturday's Ranger Mission: Myself, Nuccio, Pendola, Bluefort, Jameson, Jones, Springer, Brewer, Spider, and Edington
    • Mission Readiness: Loadouts were created beforehand, and saved to the Arsenal.  Most of the team has had a chance to save their gear to their lockers in the operations server, however the system is still buggy.  The Squad has been informed about the saving process to basically "re-kit" before you save and exit the server.
    • Trainings: The squad skipped training this week to focus the time on completing final loadout checks and 'operation server locker system testing'.  Most people understand they problems with the system, but they know their area in the locker room.
    • RRC: Spider, Bluefort, Pendola, and myself participated in at least one RRC mission during this week.
  8. Date: 26FEB21
    Duration: 2 HR
    Type: RASP
Instructors: SFC Hodges.A, SSG Dima; Assistant: TSgt Platypus.H, TSgt Altenburg.B
Students: PVT Smith, PVT Tyrell, PVT Lipinski

Notes: RASP concluded with the Live Fire Maneuvering Course.  Instructors brought the heat with rockets, 320's and MG fire.  Because time was a factor at the end of the event, and it was the 2HR limit, we decided to reschedule the FTX.  Therefore PVT's Smith, Tyrell, and Lipinski will still need to complete their FTX sometime this week.  I decided to give them their PFC tags anyway.  We can promote them to a squad/team, while we wait for them to complete their RASP FTX later this week.
