The maximum effective range of the PRC-152 is between 5 and 15 km depending on terrain, obstructions, frequency, and atmospheric conditions. Information on the most useful channels programmed in the SCA template is available below. The full list is available here.

  2. Task Force Crusader (TFC) is a community that aims to provide a realistic simulated special operations environment. The higher objective of which is to create an environment which is conducive to allow growth of its members mentally in teamwork, leadership, and morality.

    ...

At its core, a realism unit is a role-playing unit. We strive to promote an immersive and professional environment for members to role-play in by providing a unique and structured military experience. When in-game, members are expected to act as if they are on a foreign battlefield or in a domestic training environment.

To give an explanation of what this means, you are playing a role in-game as part of the realism experience. You want to role-play in game as a PVT, SPC, SGT, Infantryman, Medic, etc, etc. You are expected to act as if you are that soldier in that environment when you are playing.

This means that you need to be ready to immerse yourself in your role while in-game. From mission start to mission end you need to pretend that you are in a combat environment - no talking about your "fps" or "lag" or "teamspeak issues" unless there is a critical emergency that needs to be addressed. Don't talk about what you're watching on TV while you're playing or what other people around you are doing. These are all things that break the immersion that is desired by others.

Voice Activation - If you cannot control your voice activation, you will be required to switch to a push-to-talk profile. If you have loud TV or music in the background, or you eat or drink, or there are people or loud children that are constantly making noise, or you use speakers that feed-back through your microphone, or any other sort of voice activation issues you will be required to switch to PTT. This can be one of the single most immersion-breaking experiences and will not be tolerated.

It is our hope in Task Force Crusader that we provide the ArmA realism experience that you are looking for. See you on the battlefield!

A step-by-step guide to joining Task Force Crusader
1.) Interested in applying to Task Force Crusader? Make sure you meet the following requirements before submitting your application:
Minimum Age Requirement: 16 Years old. Those under 16 are not allowed. No exceptions.
Must have a copy of ARMA III with the APEX DLC and a valid Player ID.
Teamspeak 3 VoIP Client and working microphone/speakers/headset. You need to hear us, we need to hear you. You will not be allowed to begin initial training without these.
Ability to attend our at least one, but preferably both most months, of our unit wide events every Sunday of each month at around 1800 (6:00pm) - 2030 (9:30pm) Eastern Standard Time.

2.) Read and Understand the Definition of Realism Gaming:
The 3rd Ranger Battalion is a volunteer unit. By applying, you are stating that a realism environment is how you want to play ArmA III.

WHAT TRAINING WILL BE REQUIRED OF YOU
After you are accepted, you will be appointed a Recruiter to help you through all the processes in the training pipeline. By submitting your application, you understand that you will have to complete the Basic Training Pipeline prior to being able to participate in operations.

The Basic Training Pipeline consists of:
Three days of Basic Training, going over all of the basic rifleman skills such as:

    • Day 1 OSUT - History, Loadouts, Mods, Radios
    • Day 2 PRE RASP - Weapons, Team Tactics and Land Navigation Basics
    • Day 3 RASP - Vehicles, MOUT Basics, Graduation

All three days will consist of a mixture of working instruction and field exercise

No day will last longer than 2 hours

After completion of the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program (RASP) you will be promoted to Private First Class and assigned a Unit. Additional Infantry training will be required afterwards, but will not hinder your ability to be a member of the Unit or participate in weekly operations.

3.) Check the current open billets post for a list of open entry level 'jobs' within the Unit.

4.) Fill out our Application Form. Do it right the first time; our recruiting team will appreciate it and your application can be processed faster. If you cannot fill out the application in it's entirety (missing PID, etc.) then don't submit it. Wait until you have all of the required information please.

5.) Wait patiently. We have real lives, real jobs and real commitments to many other things outside of this Unit. Your application will be processed as quickly possible. Sometimes that is an hour, sometimes it's a few days. Please make sure that you have Private Messaging enabled in your user profile. This helps us contact you when we need to.

6.) If you've done everything correctly up to this point then you should see an "application accepted" message on your application, as well as a private message or two giving you instruction on the next steps to becoming a member. Follow these instructions, ask questions when you need to, and have fun!

7.) After you are accepted, you will be appointed a Recruiter to help you through all the processes in the training pipeline. By submitting your application, you understand that you will have to complete the Basic Training Pipeline prior to being able to participate in operations.

UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RESERVES AND ACTIVE DUTY
Active: Able to attend many Training and Operations. Something to understand before joining is that as an active member in this unit, you will be required to attend Fire Team, Squad, and Platoon Training to maintain vital skills that are not taught in the short time space we have in Basic Training
Reserve: Unable to attend as many Training and Operations. If you feel like you can't commit to additional training after RASP, that's fine - you can request a transfer to the reserve platoon where you can "Fill in" for another unit any time there is an event on, and you want to attend. It's an easy way to stay as a participant, even if not as often as everyone else.

    SPECIAL RECRUITING POLICIES
Should any new members join the unit and bring with them two or more friends that complete RASP, we will allow one of the group members to be authorized a meritorious promotion to the rank of Private First Class. The group members must decide who among them shall receive this meritorious promotion. Should the members not agree then no meritorious promotion shall be authorized. This promotion does not come with a guarantee of a leadership billet. Additionally,  If six or more members of a group complete RASP, one of the members is authorized meritorious Specialist and one member meritorious Private First Class with the same guidelines of selection as above. No other meritorious promotions are authorized.

    Respectfully,
    Recruiting Command
